Looks like a lot is going on between theater chain York Cinemas and ‘OG’ North America distributor Prathyangira Cinemas just ahead of the big film’s release. York released a press note announcing that Sumanth Sunkara is no longer affiliated with them after discovering his ties with Prathyangira Cinemas. They accused him of a conflict of interest and misuse of confidential information. Below is the press note.

Please be advised that effective immediately Sumanth Sunkara is no longer affiliated with York Cinemas. Mr. Sunkara was previously a partner with York Cinemas until Sep 16, 2025 in relation to the distribution and exhibition of Telugu films. It has recently come to our attention that Mr. Sunkara was working with Prathyangira Cinemas, one of York Cinema’s distributors, and even became a Director of Prathyangira Cinemas on or around April 15, 2025. During this time, York Cinemas was in frequent negotiations with Prathyangira Cinemas for the purpose of establishing distributor relations for various films. Mr. Sunkara did not inform York Cinemas of the conflict of interest and in fact disclosed confidential information of York Cinemas to Prathyangira Cinemas without the knowledge or consent of York Cinemas. Accordingly, Mr. Sunkara is no longer associated with York Cinemas and does not have the authority to enter into any agreements on behalf of York Cinemas or otherwise bind York Cinemas in any manner.
