One of the vicious propaganda against Amaravati is that it is a low-lying area and floods to Krishna River will flood the entire capital area.
In fact, there used to be a danger of this flooding to the Capital area but as always Chandrababu Naidu prevented this problem with his foresight.
For years, Kondaveeti Vagu, a stream from the Kondaveedu Hill Range, has created havoc submerging standing crops in the Tadikonda and Mangalagiri mandals upstream of the Prakasam barrage.
The ongoing rains due to the depression have caused flash floods for Kondaveeti Vagu and Krishna River. But then, there is no flooding in the capital region.
The reason is the Kondaveeti Vagu Pumping Scheme finished in Chandrababu’s previous tenure with a cost of 237 Crore.
During the floods, the project will lift 5250 cusecs (0.5 tmc) of water from the stream during floods and pump it into the river and adjoining canal with the help of 16 heavy-duty motors and pumps.
The motors are operational right now and the flooding of the capital area is avoided.
YSR Congress social media teams are eagerly waiting for the visuals of the capital area getting flooded so that they can spew venom on Amaravati. But then, this Pumping Scheme disappointed them.
