Andhra Heatwave Alert: 119 Mandals to Hit 46°C Today

The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) issued an urgent public health warning as a brutal summer heatwave intensifies across the region today.

State weather tracking networks have projected severe heatwave conditions to directly impact 119 mandals, while an additional 155 mandals face heavy thermal strain.

Meteorologists warned that peak afternoon temperatures are expected to breach a scorching 45°C to 46°C across several districts, including Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Kakinada, Eluru, Krishna, and Guntur. In response to the extreme mercury spike, authorities have strictly advised vulnerable groups and senior citizens to avoid any outdoor travel between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

While dry northwestern conditions continue to trapthe plains, localised atmospheric instability over neighbouring regions might trigger sudden, scattered evening thundershowers in pockets like Bapatla and Chittoor.
