AP Proved Right on Telangana Projects?

Central Water Commission filed an affidavit in Supreme Court that they have no information about Telangana government’s Palamuru – Rangareddy and Dindi Lift Irrigation Projects. CWC also confirmed it has got no Project reports or technical permission proposals for these projects.

This will mean that Andhra Pradesh’s allegation of taking up projects illegally without permissions may be right here. Telangana government is arguing that these projects were taken by previous governments and they have also brought out G.O.s regarding these. However the G.O.s are only for surveys of the projects and do not have anything to do with permissions.

Even if Telangana’s argument is right, permissions and approvals have to be given at the central level. Telangana government should sit across the table with AP government to resolve the issue or else Center or the courts will stall the projects which will further complicate the whole process.
