Main Men Left, But BJP Should Be Happy?

Annamalai and Tamil Nadu political developments

One of the main personalities for the BJP in South India, Annamalai has decided to quit the party. He submitted his resignation to the party high command today and will soon be launching his own political party.

But this political departure might not be too much of a problem for the BJP at the fundamental level as there is something positive to look after.

Firstly, it has become extremely clear that the people of Tamil Nadu have no faith in the BJP and there is no point in the party stressing hard here either. Annamalai himself didn’t get the BJP MLA ticket in the recent Assembly election, and that is a different case altogether.

At this point, the best possible outcome for BJP is to have one of its faithful loyalists like Annamalai operate on their own political grounds and potentially gain significance in Tamil Nadu. Many people comment that Annamalai is a hard court supporter of BJP and he will have the goodwill of Modi in the future.

So in a way, the rise of Annamalai in Tamil Nadu could only affect existing systems like TVK, DMK and AIDMK. This is a very positive outcome for the BJP as a political entity.

But this is very speculative in nature, as we never know what would happen in the future and what would be the plan of action of Annamalai. His primary focus will now be on developing his own political party in the state.
