Andhra Pradesh State Fibernet Limited (APSFL) recently revealed plans to release new movies on its platform AP Fiber. Earlier this month, AP Fiber introduced the ‘First Day First Show’ program, allowing consumers to watch new releases on the day of their release by paying a fee to view the film once.
APFNL has said earlier that it will now release films for home viewing at a nominal price. Their earlier film Nireekshana was released on fiber net for Rs 99. Now, they will be releasing another movie, Love You Too, soon for a mere Rs 39.
However, the biggest question is who is bothered to watch the first release of movies from low-grade small filmmakers. YouTube already offers much better content, and that too for free.
The top executive said that from henceforth, they would be streaming all films that will release in theatres. Soon, the movies will also reach those in remote corners of Andhra Pradesh. However, he also clarified that they do not consider APFNL as a competitor to either OTT platforms or theatres.
But many viewers are already clear that they don’t care to watch small, unknown films even for a nominal price. With other OTT platforms providing high-quality, world class content, why would anyone want to waste their time on such Z-grade content, even if it were offered for free?
