Andhra Pradesh politics command the highest amount of attention for any South Indian state, and this is the reason why all political affairs related to this state or watch it with close anticipation.
Even the political commentary regarding Andhra Pradesh, politicians generally grabs a lot of attention on social media. Any sort of discussion on YS Jagan, Pawan Kalyan, Chandrababu will invite a huge public discourse.
Digging into the topic that we are going to discuss today, certain standup comedians had been using AP politics for their set performances om stage in recent times.
It is well within the freedom of speech and political commentary to speak about any politician. But the point of difference, here is obviously the choice of words and the sensitivity of the topic.
However, the recent incident that happened at a stand-up comedian set in Hyderabad, where deputy CM Pawan Kalyan and his niece Niharika targeted at a personal capacity has agitated many. There was round of physical reprimand that happened at the set where this ugly political Sandip comedy show happened and a serious warning was given.
From the neutral standpoint, it is perfectly alright for a stand-up comedian or commentator to speak within the democratic framework. They can criticise the political works or shortcomings of any politician with adequate proofs. But targeting them at a personal capacity and going after family members, just for the sake of instant laughs and social media attention is to be taken seriously.
This is not just because of a situation as such happened for Pawan Kalyan. A similar repercussion is expected if someone crosses the line against Chandrababu or Jagan as well in the future. If a person crosses the line in critiquing any other individual, they are bound to face whatever consequences that follow.
