It is quite common that governments do numbers magic in budgets for showing grandeur. Telangana or Andhra Pradesh are not exceptions for this. One such instance in Telangana budget is a big joke which any layman can identify. The government had estimated a revenue of 13500 Crore by selling of lands and regularization scheme in the next year.
13500 Crore is a stunning year. The government kept a target of 6500 Crore in the budget 2014-15 and managed to get only 120 Crore. And now the government has an impossible target of 13500 Crore in the next year budget.
The land sale in the important Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts will not yield expected results as there are very few government lands in those districts and majority of them are in legal issues. Also the regularization scheme rolled out by Telangana government has very few takers and the last date for the scheme had already passed. In the wake of all these issues, achieving 13500 Crore from those two is impossible.
