Bharatiya Janatha Party for the first time in its history, opened account in Kerala by winning a single seat. The Left alliance, LDF attained clear majority in 140 seats state Assembly. Congress and its alliance partners have lost one more state in Kerala along with Assam adding to their list of woes.
The only respite for the grand old party is that it (with partners) managed to win Union Territory, Pondicherry with a slender lead over its nearest rival, AIADMK. All in all, regional parties have got bigger smile in this election to four states and one Union territory. BJP could boast of winning Assam from Congress while Congress is looking dismal as always after 2014 elections.
