BJP’s Master Plan to bypass voting on Special Status?

Congress MP KVP Ramachandra RaoCongress MP KVP Rama Chandra Rao put up a Private Member Bill on Andhra Pradesh’s Special Status issue which is rocking the state. The Private Member Bill will come up for voting on 13th of this month. There are reports that NDA’s ally in AP, Telugu Desam Party may also force to vote in favour of the bill.

Congress have majority in Rajya Sabha. If the bill gets passed with TDP’s support, it will be a major embarrassment for the Central government. BJP is planning to bypass voting on this bill. The government is planning to conclude the ongoing session of Parliament earlier than 13th of this month.

KVP’s Private Bill will be alive even then but the voting can be avoided for few months. The Center is hoping that the issue will get subdued by then. Center clearly stated that there is no question of giving Special Status to the state despite all the promises before 2014 elections. The issue is creating ripples in AP Politics.
