Ministers Campaign, BRS Wins: Strange Paradox

In the municipal elections, both the Congress and BRS parties got their own share of shocks. In Janagam, where Minister Ponguleti campaigned, BRS won the maximum wards. In combined Khammam, the Congress could not win the key Kothagudem corporation despite having three Ministers from the district.

The CPI won the largest 25 divisions in the corporation. Similarly, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy campaigned in Suryapet’s Tirumalagiri municipality that went to the BRS. Of the 15 wards, the Congress won 5 wards and BRS won 10 wards.

In Minister Vivek’s constituency, Kyayanapalli municipality was won by the BRS. In Gadwal, defecting MLA Banda Krishnamohan Reddy got a jolt. Aija municipality went to BRS.

Similarly, in Patancheru, Congress could not get majority in any of the 5 municipalities. Gummadidala, Gaddapotaram, Indresam, Isnapur, Jinnaram went to BRS. While it was a sweep in Gummadidala and Gaddapotaram, BRS led in the other 3 municipalities.

Another defecting MLA Mahipal Reddy’s son campaigned for BRS here and a video of Mahipal Reddy asking people to vote for BRS has gone viral two days prior to the polls.

In all, surprises were in store for the ruling party which won more than 60% vote share.
