Before the Telangana elections, KCR had the dream of stepping into national politics, and renamed the TRS party as BRS – Bharat Rashtra Samith to have more appeal in the national front. But incidentally, the party ended up losing power in Telangana itself, let alone the national politics dream.
Now, there is an increased commotion from BRS internally to rename the party as TRS. The same was established when BRS held a meeting with the cadre and local leaderships in view of the coming parliamentary elections.
BRS senior Kadiyam Srihari who chaired the meeting collected the feedback and conveyed the same to the party top brass.
Kadiyam reportedly told the high command that there is an increasing demand to change BRS back to TRS. He told this was his personal view as well.
The commotion is that BRS has a different kind of presentation while Telangana Rashtra Samithi has a much more local and rooted touch.
Kadiyam spoke with the media and said the name change for TRS to BRS might have costed the party at least 1-2% vote share due to the fact that the new name has no Telangana connect. He said this can also be fatal in a close election.
Amidst this increasing demand to rename BRS as TRS, it has to be seen how the high command will deal with this issue.
