As part of the selection of cities over the country, the central government picked up 30 more cities to be added under the Smart Cities Mission which has been launched in 2015. With this third round of selection, a total of 90 cities is going to be under the Smart City Mission of the central government.

Amaravati from Andhra Pradesh and Karimnagar from Telangana of the Telugu states have made it to the list of Smart cities. The new list, with the new sites added, has been announced by the Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu on Friday. He took the list to the Twitter and wrote: “Announcing the next batch of 30 new #SmartCities, selected under 3rd round of #SmartCity Mission, taking a total number of Smart cities to 90”.
The target of the Smart City Mission is actually 100 and as said by the Minister, the rest of 10 Cities are yet be finalized. The total investment for this project is Rs. 57,393 crore as the reports say.
