Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu discusses the Godavari and Cauvery river interlinking proposal with Union Minister C.R. Patil.
Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil responded favorably to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s proposal regarding the interlinking of the Godavari and Cauvery rivers during a meeting held in New Delhi.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu pointed out that nearly 2,000 TMC of Godavari floodwater currently drains uselessly into the sea, even during El Niño years.
He emphasised the need to accelerate river interlinking to put these surplus waters to productive use.
Responding positively, Minister C.R. Patil assured that a meeting with stakeholder partner states would be convened within two weeks to discuss the plan.
