The Supreme Court rejected the Telangana government’s request to issue immediate injunction orders and notices to Andhra Pradesh regarding the Godavari water dispute.
The petition filed by Telangana raised concerns over the Polavaram project, Godavari water usage, and the Banakacherla link. A bench led by Justice Vikram Nath heard the case. Telangana’s counsel requested the court to issue notices to Andhra Pradesh and pass interim injunction orders.
However, the Supreme Court turned down the request, pointing out technical errors in the main petition. The bench made it clear that the case cannot be heard until these errors are fixed. When the Telangana counsel mentioned that 15 respondents were involved in the case, the court stated that it would look into the other aspects only after the errors are corrected, adding that it cannot issue notices without hearing a proper petition.
