Heavy rains have been battering Hyderabad for the past three days, leading to waterlogging and disrupting daily life. The incessant downpours caused lakes, tanks, and streams to overflow in some areas, resulting in road closures. The heavy rain continued through Thursday evening, flooding roads and streets across the city.
Citizens expressed frustration on social media over the waterlogging and traffic jams plaguing the city. Multiple areas, including Ameerpet, Khairatabad, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, and Gachibowli, experienced stagnant road water, hindering traffic movement. Power outages lasting 12–14 hours have been affecting many neighborhoods since Tuesday night.
Though schools and educational institutions were closed, people faced difficulties reaching workplaces due to traffic snarls. Commuters faced extended waiting times for cabs or autos, with drivers often canceling rides, leaving them stranded. An increase in cab and auto fares made the situation worse. Additionally, food delivery apps like Zomato and Swiggy suspended services amid the heavy rains and traffic disruptions.
As heavy rains continue to be forecast until the weekend, authorities advise citizens to remain alert, stay at home, and take necessary precautions to avoid weather-related accidents.
