Chiru’s monikers from Nata Kishore to Megastar

For Tollywood industry we have only one megastar and that is undisputedly Chiranjeevi. He earned the moniker ‘Megastar’ by the virtue of his blockbuster films in 1980s and 90s. His success run was then compared to late Nataratna NT Rama Rao and the title ‘megastar’ came from the audiences.

Before he got christened as ‘Megastar, Chiranjeevi had various other nick names. The first one is ‘Nata Kishore’ given by former Chief Minister of AP Anjaiah. Then he got Nata Bhaskar and later Daring Dashing Dynamic hero. The nick name ‘Supreme Hero’ stayed for sometime but finally he became the megastar.

And the rest is history. ‘Megastar’ seems to have fit the bill perfectly for Chiranjeevi and thence onwards his fans too got baptised as megafans and all the heroes coming from Chiru’s family are today called as mega family heroes unlike the other star lineages which go with their surnames like Nandamuri family, Daggubati family etc.
