Court Summons Jagan To Appear Before it

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been summoned by the Nampally Special Sessions court for MLA and MP cases. The court issued summons to Jagan on Thursday morning.

A case has been registered against him for violating the code in the 2014 Huzurnagar elections. However, summons were issued to CM Jagan to appear before the court on Monday in connection with the case.

The case was registered during the 2014 general election. The YCP has fielded its candidate from Huzur Nagar in this election. However, the party did not follow the election rules.

The then erstwhile Nalgonda district police had leveled allegations against Jagan and party members G Nagireddy and G Srikanth for conducting a roadshow without the permission of the Competent Authority.

The three were also issued a summons by the police under sections 188 and 143 of the IPC.

The Special Sessions Court for MLA and MP cases recently took up the case of 2014. However, this seems to be the first time that summons have been issued to someone at the Chief Minister level.

More information on the summons is awaited. The CM is likely to plead for an exemption from direct appearance.

Cases have also been registered against Jagan’s mother Vijayamma and sister Sharmila for violating the election code. It is known that the two have appeared in the same Nampally court several times.
