Andhra Pradesh government is keen to encourage ‘Buddhist Tourism’ in the upcoming Capital City as there are roots of Buddhist history in the area. The government is proposing to hold Kalachakra’ initiation — ‘wheel of time’ or ‘time-cycles’ rituals in Buddhism, where disciples are initiated into higher forms of meditation and rituals very soon.

And the state is keen on having it in the presence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Along with Dalai Lama, Buddhist monks from 71 countries for the ‘Kalachaktra’ program in the ancient Buddhist town of Amaravati. The government is also planning the largest Buddha statue will be built on the Seta Nagar hill near Vijayawada.
The Chief Minister has directed the officials to consult Buddhist monks and take suggestions for organizing the initiation. If Dalai Lama accepts the invitation of the state government, it will be a major boost to the efforts of the state government to promote Buddhist centers in the state, and the ancient Buddhist town of Amaravati as a major tourist destination.
