Atishi Marlena Singh became the new Chief Minister of Delhi after Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the post. Kejriwal, who was recently released from jail after being granted bail from the Supreme Court in the Deli Liquor Policy case, resigned from his post saying that Delhi people will re-elect him in the elections if they believe that he is innocent in the case.
Atishi, who was an Education and Public Works Department, was collectively chosen as the new Chief Minister by the Aam Aadmi Party members yesterday.
Interestingly, Atishi worked as a teacher in Andhra Pradesh before entering politics. She was an English and History teacher at Rishi Valley School in Madanapalle. Popular philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurthy founded Rishi Valley School.
Atishi did her schooling at Delhi’s Springdales School. She was graduated from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, in 2001. Later, she went to Oxford University in the UK for higher studies. She was also a Rhodes Scholar.
Before entering politics, she worked as a teacher at Rishi Valley School. In 2013, she joined Aam Aadmi Party. She was one of the founding members of the party.
