Fake votes in Andhra Pradesh have caused a huge discussion on social media. The steep up-surge in the fake votes in the state is leaving the opposition parties, Telugu Desam and JanaSena deeply worried as it is alleged that YCP leaders are behind the same.

Coming to the topic, AP police have scrapped the investigation and closed nearly 90% of the cases on fake votes. Shockingly, most of these cases are on YCP leaders.

Just before the 2019 election, there were lakhs of Form-7 requests to remove nearly 12.5 lakh votes in AP. Close to 9.50 lakh requests were filed in late February 2019 alone.

After the investigation, the Election Commission found that only 1.41 lakh of these votes were ineligible and the rest were valid. This led to speculation that YCP supporters tried to remove the votes of TDP loyalists. Related cases were filed by the EC and also, complaints were lodged at police stations.

However, the AP police have closed 107 of the total 127 cases that were filed against the requests to remove valid votes in unprecedented numbers. The reason they reportedly cited is that they couldn’t track the IP Address of the users who sent this Form-7 requests.

107 of these cases were closed as undetected, 10 were re-assigned, and 8 of them are still in investigation for last 4 years.

This shocking stat proves that over 11 lakh valid votes were allegedly attempted to be removed by YCP supporters. But strangely, nearly 90% of these cases were closed.
