First ever Telangana budget tabled!

Telangana-BudgetFinance Minister Eetela Rajendra tabled the first ever budget of the Telangana state a short while ago. He started presenting the 1,00,637 Crore Budget with a controversial remark ‘Presenting our own budget at a place (Assembly) where we are insulted’. The budget was confined to 10 months of the current fiscal with Rs 48,648 crore plan and non-plan outlay of Rs 51,989 crore.

The major stand out of the budget according to the government is the Rs. 100 crore for financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh per martyr’s family. TRS government claims to have identified 459 of them so far and will be acknowledging the role of martyrs in achieving statehood to Telangana. Eetela also had allocations to the Farmers Loan Waiver, Kalyana Lakshmi (for SCs and Minorities). 1000 Crore was allocated in this budget for KCR’s flagship scheme of giving 3 acres land to the Dalits. Government is also committed to the 2BHK housing scheme to the poor families.

The ruling government made sure the important Power problem of the state has a mention in the maiden budget. Eetela has allocated 3241 Crores for this segment and spoke of a big target of producing 20000 KW power in the next 5 years. The 1,00,637 Crores budget has got an estimated deficit of 17,398. the assembly was adjourned to Friday once Eetela completed his budget speech.
