The first phase of Mandal Parishath and Zilla Parishath elections are currently underway in the state. These elections are taken very prestigious at the grass root levels and stakes are very heavy. 557 ZPTCs and 8250 MPTCs are going to polls today and 4 Lakh voters will be exercising their vote.These elections are being polled by Ballot papers. Several violent incidents are reported by 10 AM today in several parts of the state. Ex-Minister Ravindra Reddy alleged that Election commission full failed in conducting the elections properly in Kadapa district.
Ex-MLA Srinivasa Reddy from YSR Congress was house arrested by Police in Prakasam district. Polling was stalled in Kandlakunta as voters alleged that polling staff are asking voters to vote for a particular party. Similar scenes are seen in Telangana region too. In several places, TDP, Congress and TRS cadre are resorting to street fights and the police are having a tough time controlling them.
