The Internet is flooded with the videos and pictures of the plastic rice news these days. These videos have gone viral creating a tremor in peoples’ mind. Various hotels of Telangana have been reported to be selling plastic rice with which the Civil Supplies Department came into the picture and collected samples of the food from several hotels.

So, is there really the thing called “Plastic rice”? If there is, what exactly is it? Is it totally made of plastic? No. Sources say that this type of rice made of synthetic raisin came from China in the first place, where there has been a scam of selling adulterated rice with different flavors and that the scam members have earned huge profits.
Apparently, this manipulation of rice has spread to India too. This rice is made of certain proportions of Potatoes, sweet potatoes and plastic, which is why the name plastic. Hope the investigation of Telangana Civil department doesn’t show any “plastic” in the food samples collected.
