Yet another city in India, Gurgaon got its name changed today. India’s fastest developing corporate city was named Gurugram today and it has received mixed reactions from many renowned Indians and general folks.

As soon as the news went live, the social media was abuzz with the negative comments and jokes started circulating around the new name. Several stars like Rishi Kapoor and Randeep Hooda even opinionated that the new name looks quite funny and should not have been changed in the first place.
Reports suggest that there was a lot of pressure from the Haryana local bodies to change the name to Gurugram. Going into details, the name is derived from Guru Dronacharya, teacher of the Pandavas in Hindu epic Mahabharata who was given this village as guru dakshina.
Several harsh reactions have been coming in from other political parties as to concentration should have been towards developing the city before it was christened with a different name. Known as the metropolitan city, Gurgaon is a hub for may IT companies and swanky malls and is considered to be the new corporate world of India.
With some serious comments coming in for the name change, it would be really interesting to see how the government reacts to this criticism and save itself from humiliation.
