Former Minister Harish Rao has returned to Hyderabad after completing a personal trip abroad. In his absence, political tensions flared up in Telangana.
Kalvakuntla Kavitha made serious allegations against Harish Rao. She accused him and Santosh of being involved in corruption related to the Kaleshwaram project.
Kavitha also claimed that Harish is in contact with both the Congress and BJP. According to her, he plans to sideline KTR and even KCR from the BRS party.
These are not just casual remarks. The allegations are aimed at damaging Harish Rao’s political credibility and position within the party.
Harish Rao landed in Hyderabad yesterday morning. He was surrounded by media, who questioned him about Kavitha’s statements.
“My life and contribution to Telangana are in front of everyone. People are troubling me just like they troubled the party. I leave it to their wisdom,” Harish said in response.
Soon after Kavitha’s press meet, the BRS posted a video showing support for Harish Rao. KTR also followed up with a message backing him.
Perhaps KTR felt there was no need to escalate things further. Criticising KCR’s daughter publicly might worsen the situation, especially when both KCR and KTR stand by Harish.
However, the situation may not be as simple as it appears.
The Revanth Reddy-led government has already referred the Kaleshwaram issue to the CBI. It is likely that Kavitha will be summoned as a witness in the investigation.
If she gives a formal statement against Harish Rao, the CBI could use it against him and possibly other senior BRS leaders.
