The BRS High Command has suspended Kalvakuntla Kavitha from the party over alleged anti-party activities. KCR’s daughter delivered a fiery speech at a press meet and later resigned as MLC.
Many expected Kavitha to float a new party, but she held back the announcement. Her speech mainly targeted Harish Rao and Santosh Rao, while she spared KTR from criticism.
Observers quickly drew parallels with Sharmila’s failed political debut, casting doubts over Kavitha’s future. However, she now has a real chance to prove them wrong.
If she is confident, she could contest the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election, likely to happen next month. Even if her new party isn’t ready, she could run as an Independent.
Victory would silence critics and force the BRS leadership to reconsider their stance. Jubilee Hills is a strong pick, with a high urban voter base and being a BRS sitting seat.
But the risk is high. A defeat could end her political journey and crush the hopes of her yet-to-be-launched party. It’s a classic make-or-break situation.
That might be why Kavitha has delayed the announcement. She may not want to miss this election window by launching her party too soon.
For now, she is expected to stay active in street politics and hold regular press meets. Her real strength will show when she can bring senior BRS leaders and MLAs into her fold.
But such political switchovers are unlikely unless something drastic changes. Until then, Kavitha’s next move remains uncertain.
