Harish Rao’s Milk Supply to AP Hits Water Politics

The relationship between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana often gets complicated when it comes to sharing river waters. Recently, BRS leader and former Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao targeted the Telangana government on this very issue, demanding that not a single drop of water should flow into Andhra Pradesh until Telangana’s own needs are met.

However, this political stance quickly took a different turn when Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and BRS leader K. Kavitha brought up a private matter. Both leaders publicly pointed out that Milchy Milk, a dairy brand owned by Harish Rao’s family, regularly supplies milk to major educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh, including the Sri Chaitanya and Narayana groups.

This situation highlights a striking contrast in regional dynamics. When the issue is water or public resources, politicians draw strict state borders and stick to rigid regional identities. Yet, when it comes to running a private business, those very same borders disappear, allowing trade and corporate supply chains to move freely into neighboring states.

Ultimately, it shows how easily resources and business can cross the border for economic reasons, even while political speeches continue to treat the state line as an absolute barrier.
