IAS officer Srilakshmi is a well-known name in both Telugu States. She was an accused in Jagan’s disproportionate assets cases and the Obulapuram Mining Case.
She even spent several months in jail during these cases. After the state bifurcation, Srilakshmi was allotted to the Telangana cadre.
Once Jagan came to power, he requested the then KCR government and brought her back to Andhra Pradesh. She later headed the key MA&UD Department in Jagan’s government, enjoying his full backing despite criticism.
Unexpectedly, YSR Congress senior leader Bhumana Karunakara Reddy made sharp comments against the IAS officer. He called Srilakshmi the “Anaconda of Corruption” and alleged that she disrespected her department minister.
Bhumana further accused her of being the mastermind in the TDR bonds scam. He said she behaved like a tyrant with subordinates and claimed she planned to siphon off hundreds of crores through road projects in Tirupati.
He alleged that when leaders did not cooperate, Srilakshmi made false charges against them. These attacks from a senior YSR Congress leader are surprising, as they indirectly echo TDP’s long-standing allegations against her and Jagan.
This raises a big question. Did Bhumana make these remarks with Jagan’s approval? Will the party support Bhumana or defend Srilakshmi, or simply ignore the press meet altogether?
