IAS officer Srilakshmi had a major jolt from the Telangana High Court. Srilakshmi had filed a reverse petition in High Court asking it to announce her innocent in the Obulapuram Mining case.
However, the Court dismissed her plea. The Court has already called Srilakshmi as accused in the case. Following the Court’s ruling, CBI is all set to investigate her role.
The CBI Court struck down her case in 2022 after she filed a discharge petition. Questioning it, Srilakshmi filed a revision petition in Telangana High Court. In the past, the High Court allowed her petition. She was also acquitted in OMC case.
But the CBI approached Supreme Court in the matter. The Supreme Court said that it was not right to give a judgement without hearing to CBI. The Apex Court sent the case to High Court saying it must hear both sides of the argument.
It ordered that the case must be concluded within 3 months. The CBI presented an argument saying the irregularities in Obulapuram Mining Company started after Srilakshmi took charge as the industries secretary in 2006. They said Srilakshmi facilitated the corruption practices by Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC).
The CBI accused that Srilakshmi filed reverse petition by withholding vital information. She also suppressed the fact that the High Court rejected her petition in the past, argued CBI.
The CBI said that it had proofs regarding the lease of Obulapuram Mining Company and that Srilakshmi has to face inquiry in a lower court. After hearing the arguments, High Court dismissed Srilakshmi’s case.
