The highest denomination of Indian currency till November 2016 as many knew was Rs.1000 but the highest denomination India ever had was Rs. 10,000. Then what happened to the note? the same that happened to 1000 and 500 notes, Demonetization.

The note was demonetized in 1978 and the number of these notes printed at that time were just 346. That could’ve been very easy to get rid of those banned notes to the government then, than to demonetize the 500 and 1000 notes now. Currently, there are only 10 of the demonetized 10,000 valued denominations left.
Ramkumar who lives in Dubai has got one of the banned 10,000 rupees notes. He saved it for about 40 years and as of now, the note is on display at a showroom in Dubai.
The note ban then and now both have had the same intention which is to eradicate corruption and demolish black money.
