Indian Admits Stealing $17 Million From Apple in USDhirendra Prasad (Indian origin), an ex-employee of Apple, has been charged with defrauding the company of over $17 million. The man has confessed to stealing the amount and now awaits around 20 years in prison.

He is said to have worked with Apple between 2008 and 2018 and during that course he admits to having indulged in tax evasion, accepting bribes, falsified bills, stole components, and billing the firm for the services it never received.

Prasad, 52, also started a shell company to channelize funds for his dubious activities. Prasad also disclosed that vendors Hansen and Baker were his accomplices before the court. Both co-conspirators confessed to their role after being indicted in separate federal proceedings. Prasad will appear for a hearing in March 2023. He will not be arrested prior to that day.

The US authorities have seized Prasad’s assets worth $5 million and he may face up to 25 years in jail.
