TDP Chief and former CM Chandrababu Naidu has strategically selected candidates with the aim of winning in the upcoming general elections. He recently announced the TDP’s MP candidates for 13 parliamentary seats in the state.
Despite expectations that sitting YSRCP MP Sanjeev Kumar would be given the TDP ticket for the Kurnool Lok Sabha seat after joining the party, Chandrababu surprised everyone by selecting Panchalingala Nagaraju.
Panchalingala Nagaraju, a member of the TDP BC Sadhikarta Rashtra Samithi from Kurnool Rural Mandal Panchalingala Village, has been officially announced as the TDP candidate for the Kurnool Parliament seat.
His selection was based on political and social mobilization efforts, as well as survey results.
The decision to assign the Kurnool MP ticket to the Kurava community within the BC category was made by the TDP leadership two and a half years ago.
Belonging to the Kurava community, Panchalingala Nagaraju is well-educated with an MSc BEd degree. He previously worked as a contract lecturer at the Yemmiganoor Government Girls College and later in the real estate sector.
He has also served as a common worker in the TDP.
In the 2020 local body elections, he contested for the post of President of Kurnool Mandal Parishad and won. Despite facing threats and pressure, he stood firm along with other MPTC members.
In that election, the ruling YSRCP leaders and 11 MPTC members won with him and withstood threats and pressure from the police. 12 MPTC members need support to get Mandal Chairmanship.
But the MPTC post was narrowly missed to him as an independent MPTC member supported the YSRCP.
The Kurnool Parliament constituency has approximately 4,50,000 Kuraba community voters, providing TDP with favorable chances of winning the seat in the upcoming elections.
Nagaraju’s selection reflects TDP’s strategic approach to fielding candidates who can secure victory in key constituencies.
