In a major development for residents of Guntur, an international sports city will soon come up in Vaddamanu, close to the capital Amaravati. The announcement was made by Ponguru Narayana.

Narayana recalled his visit to Vaddamanu during the second phase of land pooling two weeks ago. He said he had promised to lay a road for the village at the earliest. According to him, the promise was fulfilled within a week.

The minister noted that the road to Vaddamanu was earlier in very poor condition. After receiving requests from villagers, the government moved quickly to complete the work. He said the road was laid to improve connectivity and access.

Land acquired during the second phase of land pooling will be used for the international sports city. Initially planned on 70 acres, the proposal has now been expanded. The project is expected to cover between 1600 and 2500 acres.

The expanded plan aims to host international sporting events. Chandrababu is said to envision hosting the Olympics at the proposed sports city.

The project will include a large cricket stadium with a capacity of 1.25 lakh spectators. An international sports university and multi-disciplinary facilities for various sports are also planned.

The international sports city is part of Chandrababu’s broader vision. The goal is to position Amaravati as the sports capital of India.
