YSRCP is caught in a huge turmoil with a staggering number of leaders leaving the party and many of them openly dissing Jagan over the relocation of MLA segments. Unlike usual, the ruling party that won 151 MLA seats is more stressed than the opposition party in the lead-up to the election. YCP has already lost several key leaders and candidates.
Incidentally, Jagan’s close aide, Alla Ramakrishna Reddy who defeated Lokesh in 2019 has quit the party. This gave a very clear edge to Lokesh in Mangalagiri for the 2024 election.
MLC Vamsi Krishna Yadav left Jagan and joined JSP a couple of days ago, saying he was humiliated by Jagan’s men. Giddaluru MLA Anna Venkata Rambabu won by 81,000 votes majority in 2019 and this count is next only to Jagan. He too has announced that he wont contest on YCP ticket next term.
Daggubati Venkateswara Rao who moved from TDP to YCP in 2019 contested and lost in 2019. He recently said he feels happy to not have won on YCP last term as there has been no progress in his constituency for the last few years and he would’ve been embarrassed as an MLA had he won.
Given all the negativity and desertion YCP is facing before the election, it appears that Jagan and his party’s game is over even before the game actually starts in 2024.
