Former APIIC MD, IAS officer and one of the accused in Jagan’s illegal assets case, D. Muralidhar Reddy faced a setback in the Supreme Court.
Muralidhar Reddy was accused no.12 in the Jagan’s case. On 28th October 2022, The Telangana High Court quashed the case filed by the CBI against Muralidhar Reddy alleging his key role in the illegal allocation of to Indu Group at Lepakshi Knowledge Hub in Anantapur.
The CBI court challenged the Telangana High Court’s decision at the Supreme Court. After hearing the case yesterday, the bench featuring Justice Sundaresh and Justice SVN Bhat dismissed the verdict of the Telangana High Court.
The magistrate emphasized that under CRPC Section 465(2), a court must allow the investigation to proceed rather than halting it. It was argued that dismissing a case filed under IPC Sections for lack of prior permission is not right.
The Supreme Court expressed dissatisfaction with the decade-long delay in the investigation of a case filed way back in 2013 and directed the trial court to fast-track the process.
