Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy the other day announced that his party is contemplating to fight a legal battle to get the defected MLAs disqualified. Jagan met the Governor ESL Narasimhan and complained about the ongoing defections drive. He challenged Chandrababu to come and fight by-elections.

However legal battle on this issue may not work. There are several instances in the past where in courts refused to interfere in the rights of the Speaker. The very latest example is when Telangana Speaker did not even respond to the court proceedings in case filed by TDP (TS) leaders on the same issue.
Even better example is Supreme Court leaving Roja’s suspension issue in Speaker’s court. The apex court categorically stated that they can not dictate terms to the Speaker on this issue. A legal battle in this issue only means waste of time and money. Jagan probably should find other ways to control this headache!
