Jagan Selling Distant Dreams To YCP Again?

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy during public meeting

The former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is one of the true mass leaders in the state. But the problem has been with his commitment towards the game and that’s where YCP is lacking.

After losing out on power in 2024, Jagan has been almost entirely confining himself to the comfort of the Bengaluru house. He is stepping out in Andhra Pradesh very rarely these days.

But that is not stopping Jagan from selling a distant dream to the otherwise hard-working YCP cadres. His entire emphasis is currently placed on the upcoming Padayatra.

Even today, Jagan spoke very highly about the upcoming yatra that he is going to start next year. He confidently said his father Yatra will be commencing next year and added that he would be taking the fight to the NDA government.

This Yatra might be lucrative for Jagan at a personal and political level, considering his connect with the masses. But the problem is with the YCP leaders and public representatives who are at risk here.

The YCP MLAs are already facing a lot of public criticism for not attending the Assembly session upon the command from Jagan himself. So another year of inactivity from Jagan would ruin their prospect further.

For any leading party to sustain in politics, the constant presence of the party chief is extremely important. This is precisely where Chandrababu was able to do the job brilliantly between 2019 to 2024. After a year of hibernation, he immediately got on the ground and stayed accessible to TDP cadres.

But that is not even remotely the case with Jagan now as he is away from the political arena. He might be confident about pulling the crowds with the yatra, but it is the current MLAs and YCP representatives who are unable to get on the ground with very little public traction.
