Jagan’s Delayed Response to Rapthadu Incident Raises Questions

The man who fought so hard for the Leader of the Opposition post took two days to react to the Rapthadu incident. And when he finally spoke, he had to check whether the incident was actually in Rapthadu. To make matters worse, he even mistakenly said that the girl had died. This is how poorly informed his response appeared to be on an incident that deserved immediate attention.

Jagan later expressed happiness over the girl’s improving health and appreciated the government’s response. The green corridor arranged to shift her to Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru and the treatment under specialist doctors deserve appreciation. The government has taken steps to ensure she gets the best possible medical care.

But Jagan’s response came with the usual political promise. If the government does not provide ₹50 lakh to the victim’s family, he says he will give the amount within a month of coming back to power.

The irony is hard to miss. Two days to react, checking the location before speaking, getting the girl’s condition wrong and then offering the familiar ₹50 lakh promise.

For someone who fought so hard for the Opposition Leader’s chair, shouldn’t the bare minimum be to know the facts before addressing an issue?
