Jayalalitha’s conviction and her arrest came as a big shocker to Puratchi Thalaivi’s fans. There were reports of dramatic suicides and heart failure cases after the news broke out. The Tamil film industry protested against her arrest. Her party leaders created havoc and lot of unrest in Tamil Nadu. Protests of different types are showing up every day in the support of ‘Amma’ Jatyalalitha.
The latest protest is a different kind of dramatic protest. Tamil senior actress Maya (who starred with MGR in Amarakaaviyam) tried commiting suicide along with her daughter Gunapriya. On Wednesday morning, they came to the Commisiioner’s office in Vepery alongwith a tin of kerosene with them and tried pouring the oil on their bodies. Police noticed this and stopped them from self immolation.
Later police arrested and interrogated both the actress and her daughter. Maya demanded the release of Jayalalitha and said they want to commit suicide to support their leader. But interestingly, Maya belongs to Congress party not to AIADMK cadre.
