There have been ongoing rumours in Anantapur district over the past few months about JC Pavan Reddy, son of JC Diwakar Reddy, possibly joining the YSR Congress Party. Reports suggest dissatisfaction within the Telugu Desam Party after a ticket denial under the one family, one ticket policy.
Speculation intensified after a photograph of JC Prabhakar Reddy began circulating on social media. The image has drawn attention within political circles and sparked fresh discussions about the future political moves of the JC family.
In the photograph, JC Prabhakar Reddy is seen at the residence of YSR Congress former MLA Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy in Kovvur, located in Nellore district. He appears alongside Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy and other family members during the visit.
This development has led to renewed rumours about whether the entire JC family may eventually shift allegiance to the YSR Congress Party. Political observers in Anantapur are closely watching these developments.
Prabhakar Reddy is the son-in-law of the Nallapureddy family, while Prasanna Kumar Reddy’s mother is Prabhakar Reddy’s mother-in-law. Given these ties, the meeting could have been purely a family gathering.
Despite this, the photograph has triggered speculation across political and social media platforms. Many are interpreting the meeting as a potential signal of political realignment.
YSR Congress social media teams have already begun celebrating the possibility of the JC family returning. Party supporters believe this could help regain influence in Anantapur district politics.
JC Diwakar Reddy and JC Prabhakar Reddy were once close associates of the late YSR and held significant positions during their time in the Congress. Following the bifurcation, they left the Congress and joined the Telugu Desam Party.
Although they shared a close relationship with YSR, differences with Jagan reportedly prevented a smooth transition. This eventually led them to align with the Telugu Desam Party, which they had opposed for decades.
In the 2019 elections, both leaders introduced their successors but failed to retain their strongholds. During the following five years, Jagan’s administration reportedly weakened their influence through financial pressure and legal cases.
While Diwakar Reddy stepped back from active politics, Prabhakar Reddy continued to remain politically active. The coming months may clarify whether the family is willing to set aside past differences.
The JC family’s influence has declined sharply over the last six to seven years. Their political stance also caused internal challenges for the TDP, even as Chandrababu Naidu continued to allow them operational freedom.
After denying tickets to the JC family, G Lakshminarayana, also known as Ambica Lakshminarayana, won as the TDP MP from Anantapur in the 2024 elections. He secured a massive majority of 1,88,555 votes over YSR Congress candidate Malagundla Sankaranarayana.
