Rift In JC Brothers, YSR Congress To Benefit?

JC Brothers political rift AP

They say there are no permanent friends or foes in politics. The situation involving the JC Brothers may remind us of this once again. JC Diwakar Reddy and JC Prabhakar Reddy were once very close to the late YSR and held major positions in the Congress. After the bifurcation, they left Congress and joined the Telugu Desam Party.

Although they were close to YSR, they could not get along with Jagan. They chose to be with the party they had opposed for decades. In the 2019 elections, Diwakar Reddy and Prabhakar Reddy introduced their sons, but both lost their strongholds. Jagan then tightened the pressure on them through cases and financial trouble.

Diwakar Reddy went silent in politics, but Prabhakar Reddy continued to stay active. In 2024, Chandrababu Naidu brought the one family one ticket policy. As a result, Diwakar Reddy’s son Pavan Reddy was denied a ticket, while Prabhakar Reddy’s son Asmith Reddy won as the Tadipatri MLA.

Reports now suggest that all is not well with Pavan Reddy. Rumours in the district claim that he is in touch with Jagan Mohan Reddy and may join YSR Congress to secure the Anantapur MP ticket. Pavan and Jagan have been close for a long time.

There are also rumours that Pavan met Sailajanath recently to discuss conditions for the possible joining. It is still unclear whether Diwakar Reddy has approved this move. If he has, it could indicate a rift between the two brothers.

The influence of the JC family has dropped sharply in the last six to seven years. They also created several issues for TDP, yet Chandrababu Naidu continued to give them a free hand. In the 2024 elections, G Lakshminarayana, also known as Ambica Lakshminarayana, won as the TDP MP from Anantapur with a huge majority of 1,88,555 votes against YSR Congress’s Malagundla Sankaranarayana.
