Kaleswaram Case: Govt Set To Take Criminal Action!

Kaleswaram project Medigadda Barrage issue

Key developments have emerged in the Kaleswaram project case. The Telangana legal department has advised action against L&T, which constructed the Medigadda Barrage. The opinion follows concerns over damage and the responsibility for repairs.

According to the legal department, criminal action should be initiated if L&T refuses to undertake repairs at Medigadda. It also stated that cases must be filed if the company does not carry out repairs using its own funds.

Vigilance notices have been issued to L&T, AFCONS Infrastructure Limited, which built the Annaram barrage, and Navayuga Construction Company, which constructed the Sundilla project. These notices seek responses regarding the structural issues reported at the barrages.

Based on the legal opinion, the Telangana government has decided to proceed with criminal cases if the companies fail to respond to the notices. Officials see this as a necessary step to ensure accountability in the project.

This marks a significant moment in the Kaleswaram project case. The Telangana Congress government had earlier appointed a one man commission to probe corruption allegations linked to the project.

The commission reportedly held former chief minister KCR solely responsible for the sub standard quality of the Kaleswaram project. Former minister Harish Rao and others were questioned, but no action was taken against them.

Meanwhile, the Court directed the Telangana government to undertake repairs to the Kaleswaram project. This direction followed a PIL seeking protection of the damaged barrage from further deterioration.

With the latest developments, the Kaleswaram project has once again come under the spotlight. Analysts believe the Revanth Reddy government is determined to make the companies responsible for poor quality bear the repair costs.
