Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao had announced introducing a stringent law to prosecute those who levels ‘baseless’ charges against the ruling regime. The government is already preparing the necessary law which will facilitate legal action in such cases.

But then Political Experts feel that this a dangerous law which will kill democracy and curb the voice of the opposition. Already KCR has this history of reining the media. No one can really forget the unofficial ban imposed on TV9 and ABN earlier in his tenure.

“No one can decide what is baseless or what is not. In all the cases, government will feel or say everything as baseless and try to prosecute the Opposition Leaders. We do not have progressive governments who accept their faults, hence this is dangerous,” a political expert opined.

“Such laws will automatically move us to dictatorship. The media will not tell and the opposition will be silenced and there is no one to tell the people how the government is working. This attempt of KCR government should be thwarted or else it will be a wrong precedent to other states as well,” another expert opined.
