BRS working president KTR criticised the Karnataka Congress, saying increasing Almatti height is a death sentence for Telangana. He added that while a conspiracy threatens south Telangana, Revanth Reddy is celebrating in New Delhi.
KTR warned that the proposed Almatti height increase could make Telangana permanently lose its rights over Krishna waters. He questioned why Revanth Reddy remains silent while Karnataka Congress takes such a decision, even though the matter is in the Supreme Court.
The Maharashtra CM has already responded, but Revanth Reddy appears unmoved, KTR noted. He also questioned why Rs 70,000 crore can be spent to raise Almatti by 5 feet, yet Rs 93,000 crore is not allocated to repair Kaleswaram, which supplies water to 40 lakh acres.
KTR highlighted that Karnataka has approved acquiring 1.33 lakh acres to raise Almatti from 519 metres to 524 metres. The land acquisition alone will cost Rs 70,000 crore, raising concerns about Telangana’s water and agricultural future.
