Metro Rail on Telangana formation day?

Telangana’s Urban Development Minister, K Taraka Ramarao had announced that the first phase of Metro Rail Project will be operational on June 2nd (Telangana formation day) this year. The Metro train will run in 20 Kilometers in the first phase. This route was supposed to open for Ugadi this year but the government postponed the launch.

KTR also revealed that the government is preparing proposals for the second phase of Metro Rail Project. The works are complete only in Nagole – Mettuguda route. The project is being hampered in other routes with land acquisition and alignment change issues. Telangana government is slowly solving one issue after the other and clearing decks for the project.

Already the project costs escalated so much due to the construction delays. Telangana government wants Metro Project to be extended to new routes – Raidurg to Shamshabad Airport, Falaknuma to Airport and Chandrayanagutta to LB Nagar. The government is also planning to connect Metro to Nampally and Secunderabad Railway Stations.
