The executive officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), AV Dharma Reddy, highlighted TTD’s pioneering role in global temple administration.
Speaking at the International Hindu Temples Convention, he mentioned TTD’s management of 71 temples nationwide since its formation in 1933. The TTD is renowned for being the world’s wealthiest Hindu temple trust, with vast assets, including Rs 17,000 crore in fixed deposits and over 11 tonnes of gold deposits.
He also revealed that the Tirumala Sri Vari temple is adorned with 1.2 tonnes of gold ornaments and 10 tonnes of silver. During the annual Brahmotsavam festival, the temple is decorated with 500 tonnes of flowers.
The temple has around 24,500 employees, including 800 gardeners who serve the devotees. Approximately 500 tonnes of ghee are used in preparing prasadams (offerings) every year.
He also denied allegations of Srivani Trust fund mismanagement and urged everyone to support the cause and refrain from baseless allegations that could hurt devotees’ sentiments. He assured that all funds from the Srivani Trust are being used for constructing new temples and renovating ancient ones.
