Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s niece Karuna Shkla accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi for telling lies to win in the elections. She resigned from the saffron party in December 2013 after accusing the party for being in the grips of power politics.

She then joined in congress and contested from Bilaspur constituency which she was lost. She said that “In last several years I have seen many governments coming to power, but it was for the first time when I saw one man (Modi) winning the elections based on complete lies.”
Shukla even backed the JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar’s comments of seeking country’s freedom from the RSS and hardcore Hindutva. “After Vajpayee and Advani era, the party went into hands of few foxes and they are running with much cunning” she said.
