Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff had extended an invitation to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to watch the final of the ongoing FIFA World Cup at the Estadio do Maracana in Rio de Janeiro on July 13. It is not yet known if Modi accepted the invitation. If he does, he is likely to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and South African Jacob Zuma, who will gather in Brazil for the 2014 BRICS summit to be held between July 15 and 17 in Fortaleza.
Modi had released commemorative postage stamps on the eve of 2014 FIFA World Cup. On that occasion, he hoped that the game which has international fan following, could become a bridge for connecting nations.
