Senior Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham is reportedly set to join the YSRCP, but the surprising part is that his joining won’t be in the presence of YS Jagan.

Key leaders of the YSRCP are expected to visit Mudragada’s house, including Mithun Reddy, district observer, ministers, and district MLAs.

During the meeting, promises are likely to be made regarding a Rajya Sabha seat for Mudragada, and the YSRCP is considering promoting him in various places across the state for the upcoming elections.

However, the YSRCP is rethinking the decision to field Mudragada against Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan in Pithapuram. The current in-charge has decided not to replace Vanga Geetha, and the party seems to have ignored the Mudragada family’s suggestion for him to contest from Pithapuram.

Mudragada Padmanabham has had a significant political career, winning elections five times as a public representative. He secured victories four times as an MLA (twice from TDP in 1983 and 1985, once from Congress in 1989, and once from Janata Party in 1978) and once as a Kakinada MP in 1999 (TDP).

Mudragada has faced defeats in elections as well, losing twice as an MLA (in 1994 and 2009), once as a TDP MP in 2004, and once as an Independent candidate in 2014.

He did not contest in the 2019 general elections. In 2009, Mudragada contested from Pithapuram on behalf of Congress, securing the third position, and in 2014, he contested as an Independent from Prathipadu.

Mithun Reddy visited Mudragada residencetoday. Mithun Reddy came to Kirlampudi along with the district YSRCP leaders to invite Mudragada to the party.

As per the sources, Mudragada’s son Giri will be guaranteed a nominated position before the election code. Mudragada family will be away from contesting elections but YSRCP assures that Mudragada will have a suitable position after the elections.
